My mother told me not to eat the watermelon seeds!!

I remember growing up as a child my mother would always tell me, don’t eat the watermelon seeds or a watermelon will grow in your belly. As a young child I use to believe this, of course. We always believe what our parents tell us.

Funny because parents lie A LOT to kids, and about kinda big things, like Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny! But they do it because society has encouraged it. I would say they do it because they love you, but they could tell you the truth and it wouldn’t change it either way. I personally do not want to lie to my kid and tell him that a fat white man breaks into everyone’s house once a year and leaves a gift under good kid’s trees. So when my kid goes to school the next day and another kids got a gift 10X better from Santa just cuz their parents make more. NO…I don’t think so. And kids compare gifts…trust me…I remember it!

But I stray from my point. I am checking my email today, which I do every morning; I get tons of news articles, because it is in my job description to look through news articles for references for our company, any of our partner companies or our clients. If it is good, then I have to let people know. Fun job right! I use to do just Marketing coordinating, but I must admit, I like the online side more.

ANYWHO! I open up an email from my best friend, she always sends me any article that I may think would be interesting or funny or whatever, we probably send each other about 5-10 articles a-day (yes the world is that twisted) and I usually don’t blog about 99% of the….but the one I got this morning…OMG. If you want to check it out, the link is http://tinyurl.com/c8vrnx. BUT I must warn you, there is an image when you open this up, and it is not a pretty sight, if you have a weak stomach. I thought it was kinda cool, but WOW some people may not enjoy it.

So the article was about a young guy (he was only 28…not much older than me at all) in Russia (Izhevsk, Russia) who went to the doctor complaining about his lung hurting and he was coughing up blood. As anyone would think…CANCER, and no one wants cancer. So the guy went into the doctor to see what was wrong. I can image how I would reach, because I am a little bit of a hypochondriac. So the doctor did the logical thing, took the guy in for an x-ray to see what the heck was wrong. Well they found a “tumor” in his lung. So they did a biopsy to see if it was cancer or not. They get the guy into the surgery room and put him under. They cut into the guy’s longs and HOLY COW they saw GREEN NEEDLES!!! It was a 5” branch/tree growing in the guy’s lung!!! You could ask, well maybe it wasn’t growing, maybe the guy swallowed it or something, but

A) Who (over the age of 5) would swallow a tree branch
B) 5” is too large to be swallowed or inhaled into the LUNG….stomach of course is different.

So this guy must have breathed in a in a seed or something and it must have started to grow inside his lung. That is so freaky right. It must have spread out, grown roots and lived inside this guys lungs for a hot minute.

Now it is really scary to think what would of happened if he had not gone to the doctor (but obviously he would have because he was coughing up blood from the needles poking into him). How big do you think the tree could have gotten? And don’t trees need light to grow? Isn’t sun light very important? I am just amazed and of course now a little freaked out.

Cuz like my mother use to tell me, don’t eat the seeds, they will grow in your stomach. That saying now gives me more pause then it ever has before. I know stomach…not an issue, all the acid and stuff, no way. BUT now with an actual proven case of a tree growing in the lung…very scary!!! I think I would really freak out if something like that happened to me. I already have a fear of something crawling into my mouth, nose or ear while I am asleep and laying eggs or biting me and laying eggs under my skin. NOW I have to add to my list, fear of plants growing inside my lungs. OMG, I would really die!

Is the world really full of this many crazy people???

The other day I get this news story

http://www.wtsp.com/news/..local/story.aspx?storyid=..104338

in case any of you actually want to read it. It is really short and kinda silly, but it really hit me just how evil and demented the world is. OK. So the headline reads

TPD ARRESTS MAN ACCUSED IN SYRINGE PHARMACY ROBBERY:

You think, umm, odd, why would a man try to hold up a pharmacy with a syringe?? That is not normal; usually people stick with guns or something else. Well if you start reading more and more about this story and checking other sites, you find out…this man walked into the store, and threatened to stab the people in the store with a syringe infected with AIDS! WITH AIDS. WTF seriously, what type of people are these that want to give someone a deadly virus. Something that a person could live and suffer with for years! I don’t get it; I don’t think I want to get it. I think that is just horrible. It is so SO much worse the shooting someone or stabbing them. At least someone would die quickly or even have a chance to live, but AIDS; well there is no cure for that! NOTHING! It is horrible to imagine that anyone would do that. The man was crazy I tell you! And all the man wanted was oxycodone! Could he not just get that on the street from another crazy person! I am glad they at least caught the man, but what if he had stabbed someone with an infected syringe?! That would have been just ghastly. No one deserves to get stabbed with a virus infected needle. GRR. I just think, is the world really that sick and are people really that screwed up?!

The Haunting in Connecticut

I went to go see The Haunting in Connecticut a few weeks ago with my boyfriend. I like horror movies, but sadly this was rated PG13. honestly, do they even make rated R horror movies anymore. Not the blood and guts type, but just the makes you jump in your seat type. Like the Exorcist. Anyway, this movie was really good, although I did not recognize anyone in it except for Elias Koteas, he played the Reverend. Elias Koteas played in TMNT back in the day. So this movie is actually based on a true story. Now sadly...I don't know which parts were true and which were just made for the movie screen, but it is very interesting to think about. Anywho this movie, well it was very twisted, but actually really good. It is about a boy who is dying from cancer and his family. He has to go for treatment at a specialized hospital that is located four hours from their home so they end up getting a house closer to the hospital. Well the house ends up being haunted. It is haunted by the boy who use to live in the house and communicated with the dead. He ended up dying in the house and never left. You have to go watch the movie, cuz I don't want to give any of it away. I actually jumped a few times, my boyfriend just laughed, and the girls behind us (and maybe a guy or two) well they screamed a few times. So there is not a lot of blood and sex, which now makes a movie rated R, but it is still good. Not the best horror movie ever, but it is one of the better ones I have seen in a long time.

I would give this movie 3 1/2 stars out of 5I guess I should have let my man pick which movie, because the last one I picked suxed, but this one, well I picked well. I will let my boyfriend pick the next one.

Just a hello

So I am new to this public blogging forum. I have known about them for a long time, but always questioned them. I have been a huge fan of blogging on MySpace ever since I started college, which is now longer ago then I would like to remember. I liked MySpace because it was private and only my friends could view it (sometime people don’t always like what I have to say), but after a lot of encouragement I figured why not.
Just a heads up, I like to blog about movies that I go to see and if they were worth going to or not, and of course I enjoy blogging about books. I love to read. I am always listening to an iTunes audio book and usually reading one or two books as well. I love my iPod, this way I can listen to a book while driving to work in the morning and heading home at night. All my close friends are readers, and we always recommend book to each other. It keeps things nice and happy, because nothing really suxs more than picking up a book that is really bad! I like to read a lot of different kinds of books, for a while I was on this Vampire kick, which has slowly rolled over into Zombies. I have always been fascinated with these types of stories, Werewolf’s and Vampires ya know! I also enjoy James Patterson and Clive Barker, I try to read anything I can from them. I did randomly pick up Lian Hearn and fell in love, read all of them. It was truly one of the best set of books I have ever read. I have a number of blogs about those books on my MySpace page. But I never turn anything down when it comes to reading. I have noticed that ever since I did get the Kindle, I have been in love and I have reaching out and trying a lot of different writers. I think the reason for this is that it allows you to sample the book before buying and Amazon does that amazing thing and recommends books to you that they think you would like, so every time I finish one book, 10 more are already lined up and recommended. Which is great, it encourages me to read new people. But I have always been willing to try any author at least once, and go to any movie that catches my eye. I also love to travel, and of when I went to Italy and Holland a few years back, I of course had to blog about all of the fun places I went, and people I meet. Since I started working full time and am now going back to school full time to get my masters, I don’t see going anywhere to extravagant anytime in the near future. Sad really, because I have a long list of places I want to see before I get to old to really go and enjoy it as you can being 26 :o). I also like to blog about news & news stories. Not anything political really, I keep those opinions to myself, but crazy news stories, like…the other day a guy held up a pharmacy with a syringe he claimed had the AIDS virus, or like the woman that let this homeless guy live in her back yard because he claimed to be a vampire. You know the type of stories I am talking about, the ones that make you go “WHAT!” I can’t help but blog about those types of things, I just find them amusing. And I also blog about random things…just little rants that I sometimes get on, which we all do. About the traffic or other things like that.
So that is what I am going to blog about, that and anything else that comes to mind. Just a heads up. ;o)
