Fast Cars

So my boyfriend went out of town and lucky for me, I got to drive his car. He has my dream car….well same make and model, but SO not the right year. He drives a Pontiac GTO. I love GTO’s, I have always wanted one, not a new one, but the 72 Pontiac GTO. But considering that I am never going to have the money to afford that beauty, I am happy to drive his. (BUT it looks SO DIFFERENT). But you can imagine how spiffy I felt getting to drive it.

Ever since I meet the boy…a few years back now, he has told me over and over again that he doesn’t let anyone drive his car. So to me this was actually a fascinating situation considering how protective he is over his “girl”. I figured he would have a nervous breakdown and drag me from the passenger seat screaming, “NO, you can’t have her!”

What I did find rather funny was that fact that he made me test drive the car. OK, I know that it is a stick, but I have told him a number of times that I know how to drive a stick. When I got into the car, I was actually impressed that he had a stick and KNEW how to drive it. That is just kinda hot to me… But from my side, heck, my mum wouldn’t let me take my driver’s test in an automatic and said if I wanted to drive…I needed to learn how to drive and not just be lazy slag behind the wheel. Learning to drive with my mum was very stressful, so my best friend took me out and taught me how to drive a stick in a few hrs (I have gotten much better since) and I passed my driver’s test…IN A STICK! My first 2 cars were both sticks and my next one will be a stick as well!! But even thought I found it humorous that he wanted me to test drive it, I satisfied his curiosity and test drove his car with him sitting next to me. To be honest, it had been almost a year since I had driven a stick. AND some people do sometimes lie about the fact that they know how to drive a stick (that I have never understood)

And MAN was I a nerve racking! He wasn’t tense or freaking out on me or anything, but I could still feel the weight of his eyes pressing against me as he sat in the passenger seat. I was terrified that I would mess up or do something wrong, but I didn’t!

I passed his little test, of course, and ever since I have been driving this car without him there, it has been….well like riding a bike. I guess once you learn to drive a stick, you never forget.

So now I have finally gotten to drive a GTO and I drove my boyfriends car  NOW I have decided that I am not going to give it back. He can continue to make the payments on it (cuz my car is already paid off) but I will have his and he can have mine.

Another side thought, if he got a GTO before a midlife crisis, what is he going to do when he HAS a midlife crisis….this could get interesting.
