Vampires have always be a mystery to me, clouded in false truth. You have Vampires all the way back to the beginning of time, some even claim that when Cane killed Abel in the Bible and was cursed to walk the earth that he became the first vampire. Every Sunday Christians and Catholics (and variations of) drink the blood of Christ. Everywhere you look, Vampires and vampirism seem to be right around the corner.
So today I saw a video of the Top 10 on Screen Vampires of All time and it got me and my best friend think. Who really are the TOP TEN Vamps of ALL TIME? My best friend and I read as well so our list is a little different.
This is my list:
1) Count Dracula (Bram Stoker’s)
2) Elizabeth of Bathory (if you do not know who she is…well A) You really are not that into Vamps and B) LOOK HER UP! SHE IS THE TRUE VAMPIRE
3) Blade
4) Lestat (from the Ann Rice series – NOT JUST INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE MOVIE!!)
5) Jean- Claude (Anita Blake series)
6) Vlad III (The Impaler) Dracula
7) Dracula (1931)
8) Lost Boys
9) Eric Northman (True Blood)
10) Vampire Diaries (Not the Show the BOOK)
And this was her list:
1) Count Dracula (Bram Stoker’s)
2) Elizabeth of Bathory
3) Lestat (from Anne Rice series)
4) The Count (from sesame street)
5) Vlad (from Diaries of the family Dracul)
6) David (from The Lost Boys)
7) Herman Munster
8) Alice Cullen (Twilight)
9) Blade
10) Jean-Claude (Books one and two only)
Funny how similar we are and yet how different we are. Except we both had the same TOP 2! That I love…then it starts to get a little different, but hey, we have different tastes. It is a good thing that we both love to read, and it is funny how there are thousands of wonderful vampire books and history in the world, and the ones people always think of are the ones on TV. Yes we listed a few that were in Movies, but like Lestat from the Anne Rice series...that is a series of books before it was every a movie. Blade was a comic book character for years before Wesley Snipes took him to the big screen. Books can bring the real vampire into more reality then the best made Hollywood film.
