Class Registration
So I am attempting to get my Masters Degree from FIU. I started in the spring thinking I could go all year round and get it done in 2 - 2 1/2 years. I took one class in the spring because I was still considered an out of state resident. Then when the Summer courses came around I was ready to take 2 classes and get this degree truly underway.
Now I have to say that the reason that I applied to this school and this graduate program was because it said that it was designed for full time employees with night, weekend and online courses.
So when summer rolled around and I was working full time again...FINALLY...after working from home online for a year I logged on. Low and behold they were only offering a few online course...like 3 and only one of them was online. The rest of the summer courses were offered like Monday, Wednesday and Friday from like 12:30-2:30, right in the middle of my work day. And to make matters worse the online course only let in 30 student and filled up within like 1 hr!! Now it is an ONLINE course, why can't you accept 60 students. AND for that matter, with todays technology...why are they not offering more online course. It is like the NEW way to learn. So I kissed the idea of going to school in the summer goodbye.
Now I am looking forward to going back in the fall. Sadly, even though I will by then, have been living in FL for 1 year and 4 months, because I didn't get my drivers licence changed over until September I will still be an out of state resident. Which mean I have to come up with the extra 2k to pay for the 2 courses I want to take.
The Fall course are still not open to sign up yet, but I found 2 that will work great with work. One online and 1 two evenings a week. I will have to get into work at 7 and leave at 4:30 to get to class on time, but it will be ok and WORTH it. I just have to check EVERYDAY to make sure I get into those classes, because the other night class (available for the course I need to take) is taught in Spanish.
That frustrates me just a little. I don't mind the school providing courses in Spanish, but this is the USA and last time I checked we do speak English here, so at least offer the class twice at night in English and 1 in Spanish!! I know it is horrible to say, but I just want to get into my class and graduate so I can start actually making decent money before I am 50!!
