Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

I finally got a chance to go see Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen this weekend! I have been waiting to see it, but didn't have the time last weekend. I loved the first Transformers. It took me back to Saturday morning cartoons growing up.

First, I have to say, that the sequel was actually good. Which was nice because usually sequel suck!! Shia LaBeouf (who plays same) and Megan Fox (who plays Mikaela) are of course still in it along with Sam's Parents. Sam is going off to college and decides he wants to lead a normal life after all of the action of helping Optimus Prime, and the other Autobots defeat Megatron and the Decepticons. Sadly this doesn't happen and Sam ends up playing a new role in defeating the Fallen. This movie really goes into the history of the Transformers, you get the chance to meet one of the original transformers, who is actually in display in a museum in Washington D.C.

You meet a few new characters in this movie. Josh Duhamel (who plays Major Lennox), Tyrese Gibson ( Who plays Sergeant Epps), and Ramon Rodriguez (who plays Leo).

Sam and his family are getting ready to head out to Sam's new college when Sam ends up touching a small piece of the cube. He starts to see all kinds of old symbols. He drops the fragment and it melts through the floor and into the kitchen where it brings to life every electronic appliance!! Within 10 minutes into the movie Sam, bumble bee and Sam's father have to deal with evil little transformer appliances (AKA, the microwave, blender toaster etc...). After dealing with that, the family head off to take Sam to College.

This is where you meet Leo

Leo and Sam are roommates at Sam's new college. Leo is convinced that their are robots running around the world and the government is working to cover it up. He runs a consper conspiracy website trying to prove it to the "people". Of course this causes a good laugh, because being the audience, we know that there are transformers and of anyone Leo could find out the truth from, it would be Sam.

One part that was very funny, was that Sam's mother got a hold of some pot brownies from some stoner's on campus and she ends up high as a kite and of course embarrassing her son to death.

Within in 2 days of school starting, shit hits the fan so to speak. Bumble Bee comes to get Sam because Optimus Prime needs Sams help. Sam blows Optimus off at first saying that he is not needed, but that doesn't end up being that fact. The Decepticons have been busy working on bring the Fallen back! The Fallen wants to come back to earth to power up a machine that will destroy the sun. The machine is hidden in Egypt and Sam and the Autobots have to find it before the Decepticons do and save the world.

Optimus Prime and the Autobots have been working with a secret government agency to track down and destroy the remaining Decepticons. The team is lead by Major Lennox (Josh also played in Las Vegas, which I was pissed when the cancelled that show. I really liked it, he is very hot). The Autobots have been working with them for a few years now. Then the president send in a new liaison who messes up everything with his closed mind and tight ass! All he does is cause problems for the agency and the Autobots at every turn.

They do introduce a few new Autobots including the twins who where funny and always talking smack! They were the new "African American" Autobots. There has been some tension about how the twins portrayed African Americans in a negative light and I can totally see what they where saying, but it is a movie and I went to the movies to be entertained and not to have some philisophical debate about how different cultures were portrayed.

There are a bunch of twists and turns through out the whole movie and of course it was done by Michael Bay so there are A LOT of explosions, but the movie is worth going to see. If you grew up watching Transformers, don't miss this movie!!
It was just as good as the first movie and I would give it 8 1/2 out of 10 stars.

On a side note - this family (wife, husband and kid) were sitting in front of us in the theater. I thought that the wife and husband were going to start getting dirty right then and there and then about half way into the movie they got up and LEFT there KID in the theater!! I could not believe that they just left there little boy ALONE in the theater for over an HOUR! That was just not safe or smart!!
